The Bike.

The Bike.

The bike is a BMW R1200GSA. An enduro bike with a two cylinder boxer engine, 1200cc and 110HP. Its a 2010 model, the latest model before the all new LC, water cooled model. It is fitted with ABS- ASC and ESA system, ASC is antispin control and ESA is the suspension system, witch you can change by a control button, even as you ride. The tank capacity for the GS Adventure is awesome 34 L. That gives a range up till around 750 Km. Depending on your speed!!!

Auxiliary light.

Auxiliary light.

The bike is fitted with two extra Halogen light - one on each side - to provide for ample closeup light, when bad road conditions. Also good for extra security, when left on at daytime.

Halogen - Xenon

Halogen - Xenon

Halogen for the normal drive and Xenon, when I need some strong light.

Tankbag.

Tankbag.

After looking around for some time, I did end up with the bag from Hepco & Becker. it's very versatile, lots of functions and gimmicks, and it's one of those magnetic easy clip on to a special mount around the fuel cover. Has a handle and a strap for carrying, build in waterproof cover and special holes for charging USB equipment while on the run.

Wind deflector.

Wind deflector.

Because I'm 6 foot 6 high, I need a deflector, so on long hours and fast drive I don't get turbulence on my helmet.

Cockpit.

A waterproof cover for the iPhone. USB waterproof power outlet, extra cigarette 12V socket - can be used with a double USB plug and a water bottle for some drinking stuff.

iPhone as a multitool.

iPhone as a multitool.

The iphone works as phone, link to my helmet, GPS with TomTom App, music for long motorway drive, hotel/camping place finder, via Booking.com and a special App, as seen here, when a normal GPS gives up - because of lack of map/road info.

DryRide seat.

DryRide seat.

The bike is fitted with the new DryRide seat from Touratech. It is made for long hours in the seat and also in a way, that allows you to breath through the seat, preventing a hot and sweaty Popo, when driving in warm areas.

Alu panniers.

Alu panniers.

Standard BMW/Touratech alu panniers with a top box. Only two small waterproof bags will be added on top of the two side boxes, and then my "old man" folding chair..... can't live without......

Tyre for the journey.

Tyre for the journey.

For this journey, I did mount the bike with Anakee 3 tyres - front and back. It will be 98% on paved road, so I think, that this would be a correct choice.

ABS, ASC and ESA.

ABS, ASC and ESA.

The control for the ABS and the ACS. Both can be deactivated if needed for off-road driving. The ESA changed the suspension. There are many different setups to chose, depending on road, load and driving mode. The grips are fitted with Puppies grip. Big and soft, and will also reduce vibrations.

Tools

Tools

Tools to be packed. Gaffa tape and super glue are a must.... same with some WD40. The fabric straps can be used to fix a loose pannier and double as rope if needed.

Tool box.

Tool box.

The toolbox is placed opposite the exhaust. There is a nice space for that. Then your clothes or other stuff will not smell of WD40!!!! and Yes.... it's also from Touratech.

Special parts.

Special parts.
